Don’t Give Up!

Sometimes you are lost. You feel empty, broken. You don’t know what to do. You don’t know where to go. You don’t know what it feels to be happy anymore, you don’t know what feels home anymore. That fake smile on your face hides a hundred emotions- hurt, anger, fear, loneliness. You don’t live, you just exist. You become a lifeless soul. Days become too long. You just wish to get over with every day. You get up from the same bed, wear the same clothes, eat in the same kitchen, meet the same people, but everything feels new, strange and different. People you have known all your life, you have grown up with, you have shared every laugh and every tear with- feel like strangers. People who used to feel like home, feel an abandoned island. You again become a new born baby. A baby who is crying and alone, who is unfamiliar with this big world, who doesn’t know anyone here. You have no one to guide you, no one to tell you what’s right or wrong, no one to teach you to survive in this cruel world. Life is a maze. Our whole life we try to find our way out of this maze. But sometimes in this race, you lose your way. You become exhausted and tired, alone and confused and you give up. You don’t want to solve this mystery anymore. You don’t want to live anymore. Every past mistake, every past regret, every past sorrow comes back like strong waves to you. During the day, you are still okay. Going through it like every other day. But it hits you at night. The loneliness and hurt creeps in slowly at night. When you are laying alone on your bed, staring lifelessly at the ceiling, waiting for tears to roll down your cheeks, waiting for some miracle to happen, some miracle to take you out of this misery. But then you realize no one is there and no miracles happen. This is a real world. A reality where you laugh, you cry, you love, you get hurt, you fall down and you get up once again.

Falling is easy. Breaking down is easy. You get hurt easily. You get lost easily. But how do you come out of this trap? How do you heal yourself? How do you find your way back when you don’t even know where you come from and where do you want to go? How do you make new relationships when you lose your own identity? It literally takes a lot of courage, doesn’t it? Where do you get that courage from? You get it from yourself. When you have no one, you have yourself. When you don’t want to live anymore, cling on to the only bit of hope you have. You may break, feel shattered, feel alone and depressed, but remember, nothing or no one is as precious as you. Nothing or no one is worth taking your life. This life was given to you as a blessing so that you can prove to be a blessing to the world. This life was given to you because you deserve it. You were sent to this world because you can make a difference to it. Don’t let one incident or one person make you take your own life. You deserve to be here, you deserve to live, you deserve to be happy. Nothing and no one can take your life away from you. You are beautiful, strong, worthy and the best. You have the power to do anything you want to do live your life. Don’t give up. Don’t lose hope.

  1. We should keep our hopes alive, no matter what, Guneesha. You have written a wonderful piece. You are right. One person cannot decide who we are. We will meet many people in our lives. People who will cherish us and understand our worth. Stay in touch, Guneesha! 🙂
